Green Mountain College | Poultney, Vermont

In 2010, I started at Green Mountain College as a Web Writer & Content Developer.

In this multidisciplinary role, I worked closely with the admissions team to write and design materials including the prospective student viewbook and print advertising for college fairs and nature magazines.

I worked closely with the alumni team to concept and design print and digital campaigns for alumni events as well as giving campaigns.

I also worked closely with the communications team and faculty to keep the college’s website up to date, design annual reports, and handle any other possible digital/design question anyone at the college had.

I had the opportunity to write features on notable alumni and students, pen PR pieces about the college for the local newspapers, shoot and edit short videos for social channels, and direct a photoshoot for an admissions piece.

While Green Mountain College is no longer open, it served as a haven for hippies, artists, dirtbags, punks, and other kids who otherwise wouldn’t thrive in a large state university environment.

It was a carbon-neutral campus that had an on-site working farm run by students that fed the campus, a program in renewable energy and ecological design, and an environmentally-focused liberal arts program that fostered the ideals of environmental and personal responsibility, civic engagement, entrepreneurial spirit, and global understanding.

It was my first “real” employer three years after graduation, and I’m proud to call it my alma mater.
